Technology FAQ's
How long does it take for the lid to freeze?R36 - When placed on a Freeze Rack, the R36 lid will freeze in less than 24 hours. Without a freeze rack, the R36 lid may take up to four days to freeze in a standard freezer. This is because the cooling material in the lid is surrounded by super insulation. This insulation prevents it from absorbing heat except through the thermal pathway provided by the Thermal Switch TM and convection plate which cools the payload space. The Freeze Rack forces air through an air flow valve into the interior of the R36 lid to accelerate the freezing process. R11 - A new design for the R11 allows the user to extract the entire Thermal Regulating Unit TM (TRU) from the unit. This allows the TRU for the R11 to freeze in under 24 hours in a standard freezer without a freeze rack. Does the lid require a special freezer? No. All Kodiak TM units can be charged in a standard (-20° to -22° C) freezer. Chest freezers tend to work better for the 36 liter lids because of the size of the lid. Kodiak does offer a special eight-lid Freeze Rack (for the R36 lid) for industrial walk-in freezers. Do Kodiak TM containers require special packing materials in the cargo area?Active CC Boxes supplies 1-2 pieces of Fiber Flow TM with each unit purchased. Fiber Flow TM is a packing/cushioning material that is very porous allowing for adequate airflow inside the cargo area. The payload liner in the cargo area is ribbed to allow for this airflow. Any packing/cushioning material that does not restrict this airflow will work. *Note - filling the excess payload area with any small-fill material such as foam peanuts will restrict the airflow and reduce the performance capabilities of the container. How do most customers deal with returning the container? All of the major package carriers have return programs to meet almost all needs. Many customers add a line item to the invoice or shipping document charging the receiver for the value of the container and then issue a credit once the container is returned. Active CC Boxes has teamed up with LifeConEx to provide a turnkey service for the shipping and return of the KodiakTM ATA R36 units. The LifeCUBETM service includes the rental of a preconditioned Kodiak TM ATA 36 container, shipping, tracking, providing status updates during transit, and the return of the container. Visit the LifeCUBETM webpage for more information about this outstanding service. When you need to ship a valuable temperature sensitive product and you cannot tolerate a shipment failure, this is the service to use. Does Acitve CC Boxes allow potential customers to test a unit prior to purchase or lease?Yes. Just download and complete our Testing Agreement. Fax it to the number on the form.
