Kodiak's New R11 Is Now In Production
Kodiak’s manufacturing facility is ramping up for the new R11 Refrigerated Shipping Container. Kodiak's target goal is to have these highly anticipated, long awaited R11 units ready and on the shelves by mid-summer of this year. Demand for the R11 is rapidly rising as it opens up new markets for smaller shipments with many of our clients.

Cold Chain ManagementWith ever-changing regulations and guidelines that govern our cold chain processes, the need for clearer, more focused qualification and validation protocols are needed. Many companies now have qualification and validation procedures in place. The concern however, is everyone on the same page?
The cold chain can be viewed as a chain made up of many different links with every link performing a specified duty, task or function. Some pharmaceuticals require storage and transport in a controlled temperature environment of between 2°C and 8°C in order to maintain their potency. Therefore, these temperatures must be maintained throughout the “entire” cold chain from the time that a drug is manufactured, stored, and transported until the time it is administered. The cold chain is easily managed as long as everyone involved in the cold chain sector fully understands and complies with the regulations and guidelines that have been put in place by regulatory agencies and industry associations. Health Canada instituted new guidelines regarding the cold chain in October of 2005, The PDA (Parental Drug Association) has published a Technical Report No. 39 entitled “Maintaining the Quality of Temperature-Sensitive Medicinal Products Through the Transportation Environment” and The USP (US Pharmacopoeia) recently updated its general chapter 1079 regarding good storage and shipping practices.

Review - EastPack 2006
If you missed EastPack 2006, you missed a great show! EastPack is said to be “The East Coast’s Largest Packaging and Processing Event”. As a leader in temperature-regulated transport for temperature-critical products, Kodiak representatives were out in full force demonstrating the dynamics of the Kodiak shipping containers while addressing many of the concerns that companies are experiencing with the current shipping methods in the market. Show attendees were able to see the capabilities of Kodiak containers with presentations of the advanced technology incorporated into each unit. During the EastPack show, Kodiak held a drawing to give away an 30GB Video iPod. Kodiak Founder Retires and New Board Member Is Elected Donald Pagel, President and CEO of Kodiak Thermal Technologies, Inc., announced today that Robert H. Thurmond III, one of the founders of Kodiak, retired from serving on the Kodiak board of directors in order to spend more time with his family and legal volunteer opportunities.
Mr. Pagel also announced that John H. Haskell has been elected to Kodiak’s board of directors to fill Mr. Thurmond’s seat.
An investor in Kodiak, Mr. Haskell is currently CEO of the Vostok Fund, L.P., with offices in Moscow and New York. Mr. Haskell’s background includes experience serving on various corporate boards including a position on the Advisory Board of Teton Petroleum (AMEX: TEC). He is a cum laude graduate of Amherst College with a BA in Economics.
Mr. Pagel stated, “John’s enthusiasm for Kodiak’s vision along with his international trade and investment experience is of great value to Kodiak. We are pleased with his addition to our board.”
